Our kitten wellness program is designed to offer your new kitten all the benefits of veterinary services available to him / or her from 6 weeks of age to about 16 weeks of age, when vaccines are usually finished. Included in this service is a series of examinations and vaccinations including rabies, panleukopenia (distemper), respiratory viruses, etc. In addition, your kitten will be stragetically tested and dewormed for the most common intestinal worm of kittens – roundworms. Roundworms can cause your kitten to vomit and / or experience diarrhea; however, it is possible for your kitten to have roundworms and not show any signs of harboring the worms. Fecal examinations will also look for other types of worms that can affect your kitten.
We recommend routine testing for two of the most deadly viruses to cats, feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. Today’s blood tests are extremely accurate and will quickly assess your new kitten’s exposure to these viruses. Vaccinations will then be discussed, taylored to your kitten’s age and expected lifestlye.
We will also discuss other important topics concerning your pet, including diet, flea and tick control, whether and when to spay/neuter, breeding, indoor/outdoor lifestlye, grooming, and behavior problems. Questions are always encouraged.
